3-Day Peak District: Physical Geography & Outdoor Adventure
Discover the dramatic natural landscapes of the UK’s first National Park. Designed for Geography, Environmental Science, and Physical Education travellers, this 3-day residential combines field studies across the Dark and White Peaks with outdoor adventures from limestone caverns to gritstone ridges.
Day 1:
Arrival, Dark Peak Geology & Ridge Exploration (Physical Geography Focus)Day 1Morning/Afternoon: Arrive in the Peak District by executive coach. Head to Stanage Edge in the Dark Peak for an introductory geographical walk examining gritstone formations, weathering, and moorland ecosystems.Late Afternoon: Transfer to your accommodation centre in Castleton, Hathersage, or Bakewell. Check in, unpack, and settle into dormitories.Evening: Hot group meal at the accommodation centre followed by an evening map-reading and team-building challenge.
Day 2:
Underground Caverns, Fluvial Geomorphology & Heights of Abraham (Geology & Hydrology)Day 2Morning: Depart after breakfast with packed lunches (or dine in local cafe). Descend into Treak Cliff Cavern or Blue John Cavern in Castleton to investigate stalactite formations, limestone dissolution, and rare Blue John stone deposits.Afternoon: Travel to Matlock Bath to ride the alpine cable cars up to the Heights of Abraham. Explore hilltop nature trails, cavern tours, and conduct field observations on valley erosion and tourism impact.Evening: Group dinner at the accommodation, followed by a nocturnal wildlife or bat-detector walk in the local countryside.Day 3: Historical Settlement Study & Homeward Journey (Eyam & Human Geography)
Day 3
Morning: Check out after breakfast. Visit the historic "Plague Village" of Eyam to study 17th-century local history, community isolation, and settlement geography at the Eyam Museum.Afternoon/Evening: Stop in the picturesque town of Bakewell for lunch and final field sketches before embarking on the coach journey back to your organisation.
