Prague

Part of our Fly Tour range, the Czech Republic is home to the city of Prague. Rich in history, the city has plenty to see, do and explore. Including a visit to the iconic Charles Bridge, Prague Castle or the Jewish Quarter.

PLACES TO VISIT

St. Vitus Cathedral

This Roman Catholic cathedral, the seat of the Archbishop of Prague, is situated within the grounds of Prague Castle.

Prague Castle

The complex itself is said to be the largest in the world. The history of the castle dates back to the 9th century, having been rebuilt a number of times following wars and fires.

The Jewish Quarter

Known locally as Josefov, located between the Vltava River and the Old Town, the area’s history dates back to the 13th century when the Prague Jewish community were ordered to leave their homes and settle in one area.

Jewish Museum, Prague

Originally created at the beginning of the 20th century to preserve artefacts from the Prague synagogues demolished during the reconstruction of the Jewish Town, today’s museum is located over six sites and includes synagogues and a cemetery.

Old Jewish Cemetery

Located in Josefov, the former Jewish Quarter, and dating from the early 15th century, there are around 12,000 tombstones yet it is estimated as many as 100,000 Jews are buried in multi-layered graves.

Museum of Communism

This museum offers students the opportunity to see how the former country of Czechoslovakia used to be during its communist rule.

Lidice

A village 20km west of Prague where, in 1942, the Nazis shot dead the male inhabitants and the women and children were sent to extermination and concentration camps.

Prague Old Town

Filled with a number of churches, houses and other buildings dating back to the 13th century. It was here in 1989 the protest meeting took place that led to the Velvet Revolution and the end of communist rule.

Charles Bridge

This 14th century stone bridge spans the River Vltava and links the two sides of Prague.

Itinerary Example


4 day by air

DAY 1: Fly from the UK to Prague with transfer to your accommodation. Time for sightseeing on arrival subject to flight schedule.

DAY 2: Morning guided walking tour of the city (included in price). Afternoon free for independent sightseeing.

DAY 3: Coach excursion to Lidice. Afternoon free for further independent sightseeing.

DAY 4: Time for sightseeing or shopping depending on flight schedule. Coach transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
